Suzi McIntosh Biograph
Suzi’s script training began in BBC Drama serials, as Producer and Executive Producer’s assistant to Kate Harwood, Jessica Pope and David Snodin, who were making such costume dramas as ‘Crime and Punishment’, (Tony Marchant) ‘Daniel Deronda’ (Andrew Davies), ‘Charlies II’ (Adrian Hodges) and ‘Elizabeth’ (Paula Milne) and many singles and event dramas such as ‘Hawking’ (Peter Moffatt), ‘Passer By’, (Tony Marchant) and ‘When I’m 64’ (Tony Grounds).
While there she was often called upon to assist Laura Mackie, who was head of the department at the time, Liza Marshall on ‘The Long Firm’ (Joe Penhall), Ruth Caleb who was making ‘Tomorrow La Scala’ (Paul Abbott, Francesca Joseph) and the hard hitting ‘Out of Control’ (Dominic Savage), plus Diederick Santer on ‘Cutting It’ (Debbie Horsfield).
Keen to gain varied experience, she joined Shed Productions as Script Editor on their prison drama ‘Bad Girls’, where she continued to learn her craft on shows that entertained a huge audience.
While at Shed, her love of the wit in storytelling grew and she had great fun being part of the storylining team.
Having served her time behind bars and giving birth to a second child (two days after Bad Girls wrapped), she edited films for the Film Council, before joining EastEnders as Story Editor. This helped her gain a further understanding of the storytelling process.
While back at the BBC, she developed a nagging curiosity about scripted comedy, so was very pleased to meet Marcus Mortimer and John Stroud, who were looking for someone to develop comedy as well as dramas with wit. While at Big Bear she has helped develop ‘Big Top’, Big Bear’s new comedy for BBC ONE and is Associate Producer on the show. Suzi is also in charge of a large raft of projects covering the comedic and dramatic spectrum and is always keen to chat with writers and develop new ideas for all the networks
